US President Donald Trump signed a presidential decree that partially facilitates the use of marijuana for medical purposes.
MARIJUANA USE IN THE US HAS BEEN EASED FOR MEDICAL PURPOSES
In a press conference held at the White House, President Trump, who signed the decree, stated that he was faced with calls to take action, especially from thousands of patients suffering from severe pain. Trump said that with the presidential decree he signed, they have lowered the access to medical marijuana from "category 1" to "category 3," allowing for easier use of this substance in medical treatments, research, and laboratories.
"RECREATIONAL USE IS STILL ILLEGAL"
The US President emphasized that the regulation does not legalize the daily use of marijuana; rather, the existing regulations regarding the "recreational use" of this substance remain unchanged.
Later, Dr. Mehmet Öz, Director of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, noted that facilitating the use of this substance in the medical field could play a significant role, especially in the treatment of certain types of patients.
