TUIK data has been released: 53.3% of Turkey is happy!

Surprising results were reached in the life satisfaction research in Turkey. Accordingly, the proportion of individuals who stated they were happy increased by 3.7 points to 53.3% in 2025 compared to the previous year. The proportion of those who said they were unhappy decreased to 13%. According to the research, the most important problem in the country was shown to be the cost of living, with 31.3% indicating it as the top issue.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) published the Life Satisfaction Survey for the year 2025. According to the results of the Life Satisfaction Survey, the proportion of individuals aged 18 and over who reported being happy increased by 3.7 points from 49.6% in 2024 to 53.3% in 2025.

The proportion of individuals who reported being unhappy decreased from 14.5% in 2024 to 13% in 2025, a decrease of 1.5 points.

The proportion of men who reported being happy increased from 46.9% in 2024 to 51.4% in 2025. For women, this proportion increased from 52.3% in 2024 to 55.1% in 2025.

WOMEN ARE HAPPIER

When happiness levels are examined by age groups; in the 55-64 age group, it was 47.5% in 2024 and increased by 7.1 points to 54.6% in 2025.

The happiness rate increased across all age groups. In 2025, compared to the previous year, the happiness rate increased by 2.6 points to 54.4% in the 18-24 age group, by 2.6 points to 53.6% in the 25-34 age group, by 5.0 points to 52.9% in the 35-44 age group, and by 4.3 points to 50.8% in the 45-54 age group. For individuals aged 65 and older, the rate increased from 54.1% in 2024 to 54.3% in 2025, an increase of 0.2 points.

It was observed that married individuals are happier than those who are not married. The proportion of married individuals who reported being happy was 56.9% in 2025, while this proportion was 46.6% among those who are not married. When examining the happiness levels of married individuals by gender; it was observed that 54.2% of married men and 59.6% of married women reported being happy.

67 OUT OF EVERY 100 PEOPLE ARE HOPEFUL ABOUT THEIR FUTURE

When examining the sources of happiness for individuals; the proportion of those who stated that their families make them happy was 69% in 2025, followed by children at 15.6%, themselves at 4.8%, their spouses at 3.9%, their mothers/fathers at 3.3%, and their grandchildren at 1.9%.

When examining the values that are sources of happiness for individuals; the proportion of those who expressed that being healthy makes them happy was 64.9% in 2025, followed by love at 14.7%, success at 9.8%, money at 7.7%, and work at 2.7%.

The proportion of individuals who reported being hopeful about their own futures was 67.1% in 2025. The proportion of men who are hopeful about their futures was 67.1%, while for women, this proportion was 67.2%.
