Turkey's first infantry-type modern machine gun, developed with domestic resources by engineers from the Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation, has successfully completed the qualification process and is ready for mass production. The rifle has passed rigorous NATO tests and will meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces.
Turkey's first infantry type Modern Machine Gun (MMG), developed by engineers from the Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE) with domestic resources, has been qualified and is ready for mass production.
TURKEY'S FIRST DOMESTIC INFANTRY TYPE RIFLE READY FOR LOCAL PRODUCTION
According to a statement from MKE, the company continues to develop new weapon systems in line with the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces, leveraging the experience gained from the National Infantry Rifle Project. In this context, Turkey's first infantry type Modern Machine Gun, designed and developed entirely with domestic resources by MKE engineers, has been qualified and is ready for mass production.
The MMG, bearing the signature of MKE, has successfully passed a total of 250,000 rounds and 40 different challenging NATO tests. The qualification process for the MMG was completed in less than a year, and it can fire flawlessly with NATO standard ammunition of 7.62 millimeters x 51 caliber.
HAS A RANGE OF ONE THOUSAND METERS
Weighing approximately 8 kilograms and having an effective range of one thousand meters, the MMG will enhance the striking power of the Turkish army on the battlefield with its uninterrupted firing capacity of 750 rounds per minute. The MMG stands out with its high firepower and durability, and it is also noted for being lighter compared to its counterparts among machine guns produced to NATO standards. With a gas piston operation and a rotating bolt locking mechanism, the MMG can be effectively used in different environments and challenging climatic conditions. The rifle offers a comfortable use for the Mehmetçik with its 6-position adjustable (telescopic) stock and ergonomic design, and its cartridges are also produced domestically in factories affiliated with MKE.
