The investigation into the death of 21-year-old Rojin Kabaiş, who went missing last year in Van and was found dead by the lakeside, has led to her mobile phone being handed over to authorities in Spain for examination. Speaking on the matter, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç stated, "The phone examination is currently ongoing. According to the latest information we received, a 10-digit password is used on the phone. Work is being done to resolve this password."
The investigation into the death of Kabaiş, a student of the Preschool Teaching Department at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, is ongoing by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
As part of the investigation, the process of sending Kabaiş's phone to Spain for examination was completed as a result of the efforts of the Ministry of Justice. After the Spanish Ministry of Justice accepted Turkey's request, Kabaiş's phone was taken to Spain by officials from the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and handed over to the authorities.
EFFORTS TO DECRYPT THE 10-DIGIT CODE
Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç answered questions from the press regarding the matter at the 20-Year Panorama Symposium of the Turkish Supervised Release System.
Speaking about the Rojin Kabaiş investigation, Tunç stated that Kabaiş's phone had been sent to Spain, saying, "Currently, the phone examination is ongoing. According to the latest information we received, a 10-digit code is being used on the phone in question. Efforts are being made to decrypt this code. After the code is decrypted, digital examinations will be conducted on the phone. After the digital examination of the phone is completed, we hope to reach important evidence. We once again share the pain of the family and extend our condolences. The pain of losing a child is certainly not easy, and they also want it to be clarified. We hope to reach a conclusion with the decryption of the codes," he said.
