In the investigation regarding the death of police officer Melih Okan Keskin, who was beaten to death during a fight at the TÜVTÜRK inspection station where he took his vehicle in Ankara, 2 station employees were arrested, and 1 suspect was released under judicial control.
Two station employees were arrested in connection with the incident in which a police officer was beaten to death at TÜVTÜRK.
POLICE OFFICER BEATEN AT TÜVTÜRK DIED
According to the information obtained, a dispute broke out between police officer Melih Okan Keskin (44), who took his vehicle to the inspection station in the Yenimahalle district on February 2, and the station employees. It is claimed that Keskin, who was beaten during the altercation that turned into a fight, fell ill a few hours after the incident and was taken to the hospital. Keskin, who was treated in intensive care with a diagnosis of brain hemorrhage, lost his three-day battle for life.
A ceremony was held at the Ankara Police Department for the deceased police officer. Keskin's funeral was held after the ceremony.
2 STATION EMPLOYEES ARRESTED
Two suspects detained by police teams in connection with the incident were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station. While station employee S.A. was arrested after being brought to court, Y.A. was released under judicial control. The other station employee suspect, M.Y., was also detained by the Ankara Police Department's Homicide Bureau teams. M.Y. was arrested by the court to which he was referred.
The exact cause of Keskin's death will be clarified after the autopsy report from the Forensic Medicine Institution.
FOOTAGE EMERGED
Security camera footage related to the fight that led to Keskin's death has emerged. In the footage, it was seen that the inspection station employee drove a car towards Keskin and then punched him. Moments were also captured in the footage where other employees approached the police and a scuffle occurred.
TÜVTÜRK ISSUED A STATEMENT
In a statement made by TÜVTÜRK, it was expressed that there is deep sadness regarding the incident that occurred on February 2 at the Ankara İvedik Vehicle Inspection Station and was reflected to the public.
It was reported that on the mentioned date, it was determined that the employee intervened physically in an unacceptable manner during a dispute that occurred in the parking area after the inspection process between police officer Keskin and the station employee Saruhan Atasoy.
In the statement, it was emphasized that the company does not tolerate violent behavior under any circumstances, and it was stated that the employment contract of the relevant employee was terminated following the identification of the incident.
In the statement, it was conveyed that after the incident, the parties went to the law enforcement units and the judicial process was initiated, and it was learned with great sadness that Keskin fell ill and applied to the hospital later that day, and died the next day.
It was stated that the examination process conducted by the Forensic Medicine Institution to definitively determine the cause of Keskin's death is ongoing, and the matter is being evaluated by the judicial authorities in all aspects.
It was noted that the former employee Saruhan Atasoy has been arrested within the scope of the ongoing investigation and the legal process is continuing.
