In the textile and ready-to-wear sector, which is one of the locomotive sectors in Turkey's exports and employment, bankruptcy news is coming in succession. A bankruptcy decision has been issued by the court for Tekirdağ-based Lider Cansu Tekstil and Istanbul-based Ceres Tekstil.
LIDER CANSU TEXTILE'S CONCORDAT REQUEST HAS BEEN REJECTED
Lider Cansu Tekstil, which operates in Tekirdağ and is among the leading producers in the region, had requested concordat due to its financial difficulties in recent months. The court had granted a one-year definitive period for the company and its subsidiary, Asya Moda Tekstil.
However, in the last hearing, the court rejected the concordat request and ruled for the bankruptcy of the two companies. With this decision, the liquidation process of the companies has begun, and the duties of the concordat commissioners have also been terminated.
ISTANBUL-BASED CERES TEXTILE HAS ALSO BANKRUPTED
Another decision came from Istanbul. In the case concerning Ceres Tekstil, the Istanbul 2nd Commercial Court of First Instance lifted all precautionary measures previously imposed on the company and ruled for its bankruptcy.
CONCERNS IN THE SECTOR ARE INCREASING
The recent bankruptcies are raising concerns in the textile and ready-to-wear sector, which is one of Turkey's important export items. Sector representatives state that increasing costs, shrinking foreign demand, and difficulties in accessing financing are decisive factors in the bankruptcies.
