Umut Meraş, who transferred from Beşiktaş to Eyüpspor, expressed that he feels hurt by the black-and-white team. Umut said, "I wasn't called up to the national team while I was at Beşiktaş. This made me a bit sad. I couldn't find the opportunity to play the way I wanted at Beşiktaş. Maybe we broke a record in terms of the number of coaches at Beşiktaş. Now, Beşiktaş fans are sending messages saying, 'Come back.' But things don't work that way. You need to support your players."
At the beginning of the season, Umut Meraş, who transferred from Beşiktaş to Eyüpspor, spoke to TRT Spor. Umut made striking statements about his days in the black-and-white team.
"I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH BEŞIKTAŞ! I LOST MY NATIONAL TEAM SPOT"
The 29-year-old left-back, speaking to TRT Spor, said, "I am disappointed with Beşiktaş. When I came to Beşiktaş, I was a national team player. I played 30 matches in my first season. In the following 2 years, I played 18 matches. I appeared in 6 matches in the Champions League. At that time, I was an active national team player, but I was not called up to the national team while at Beşiktaş. This upset me a bit. I couldn't find the chance to play the way I wanted at Beşiktaş. The last 3 years at Beşiktaş went very badly, both in terms of management and on the field. Maybe we broke a record in terms of coaches at Beşiktaş," he stated.
"I BROKE DOWN PSYCHOLOGICALLY"
Emphasizing that he worked with the most coaches at Beşiktaş, the national player said, "At one point, we changed coaches every 2 weeks. You are trying to perform in that psychology. I also had family issues during that period. It all piled up. I was on the verge of marriage. When everything piled up, I broke down psychologically. We are professionals, but ultimately we are human. There are things we shouldn't reflect on the field, but we are not robots either. The fans reacted to me and the team. I became uneasy when I received reactions even after matches where I played well. In such situations, you don't feel like you belong. I came to Beşiktaş with great desire, but it didn't turn out the way I wanted," he said.
"THEY SAY 'COME BACK' BUT IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY"
After transferring to Eyüpspor, Umut stated that he found himself, saying, "Now Beşiktaş fans are sending messages, saying 'Come back.' But it doesn't work that way. You need to support. Not just me, but Turkish players need to be supported. In our country, there is extra reaction towards Turkish players. I played in France for 2 years. They protect French players incredibly because they are their own citizens. It's the opposite here. I don't know why this is happening," he said.
