During his visit, Karimi made statements regarding the potential ground operation against Iran. Brigadier General Mohammad Karimi stated, "The Ground Forces are in the highest level of morale and operational readiness to respond decisively to aggressors targeting the country's borders. Any aggressive attempt will be met with a strong response, and intervention against aggressors at all levels will be extremely swift and severe."
POSSIBILITY OF GROUND OPERATION BACK ON THE AGENDA
The recent hardline statements from U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Iran have brought the possibility of a ground operation back to the agenda. Trump indicated that military pressure on Iran would be increased and broader steps could be taken if deemed necessary, while Netanyahu mentioned that the "ground dimension may also be necessary" for operations aimed at completely eliminating the current structure in Iran. These statements have led to interpretations that Israel is considering a limited ground operation either alone or in conjunction with the U.S.
In recent weeks, the intensification of airstrikes targeting Iran's military and energy infrastructure indicates that the scope of the conflict has widened, raising the question of whether a possible ground operation will come to the fore. Experts point out that a direct ground operation carries high costs and risks of regional escalation.
U.S.-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN
Israel and the U.S. launched a military attack on Iran on February 28 while negotiations were ongoing between Tehran and Washington. Iran responded with attacks on targets it identified in several regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain, where U.S. bases are located, in addition to Israel. In the U.S.-Israel attacks, Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, along with many high-ranking officials, was killed. According to Iranian officials, the death toll from the U.S.-Israel attacks has exceeded 1,348, with the number of injured surpassing 17,000.
