As the third week of the war initiated by the US and Israel against Iran passes, the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most critical points of global energy trade, continues to remain closed. Most recently, Alaaddin Boroujerdi, a member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, stated that his country has collected a transit fee of 2 million dollars from some ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

COST OF PASSING THROUGH THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ IS 2 MILLION DOLLARS Burucerdi stated that Iran has introduced a new understanding of sovereignty in the Strait of Hormuz after 47 years, noting that his country charges a transit fee of 2 million dollars from some ships passing through the strait. He argued that charging fees for transits through the Strait of Hormuz demonstrates Iran's power.

Addressing the Tehran administration regarding the Strait of Hormuz, which has become the key to global energy supply, Trump stated, "If Iran does not completely open the Strait of Hormuz without threat within 48 hours from this very moment, the U.S. will strike and obliterate various power plants in Iran, starting with the largest."
IRAN'S RESPONSE WAS PROMPT The response to Trump's threat came from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The Tasnim News Agency published a written statement made by the Revolutionary Guards. The statement included, "In light of previous warnings, if there is an attack by the enemy on Iran's fuel and energy infrastructure, all energy, information technology, and freshwater purification infrastructures belonging to the U.S. and the Zionist regime in the region will be targeted."
U.S.-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN While negotiations continued between Tehran and Washington, Israel and the U.S. launched a military attack on Iran on February 28. Iran responded with attacks on targets it identified in several regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain, where U.S. bases are located, in addition to Israel. In the U.S.-Israel attacks, Iranian leader Ali Khamenei and many high-ranking officials were killed. According to Iranian officials, the death toll from the U.S.-Israel attacks exceeded 1,348, and the number of injured surpassed 17,000.
