As the arrest of former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in the Epstein investigation shook the country, News.com London Representative Bilal Acar reported the allegations against Andrew. Acar stated that Andrew is accused of abusing his public office and being involved in a sexual exploitation ring. The claim that sexual activities were organized in UK buildings played a significant role in the initiation of the investigation; King Charles's first words were, "The law must take its course."
In England, King Charles III's brother, former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was detained on suspicion of abuse of public office in connection with the Epstein investigation.
IT HAS BECOME A NATIONAL ISSUE
The development has caused a significant stir in the country; it was reported that Prince Andrew is being held in Norfolk and that searches are ongoing at numerous addresses.
WHAT IS HE ACCUSED OF?
It has also become a matter of curiosity what the British police are accusing Prince Andrew of. Bilal Acar, the London Representative of Haberler.com, conveyed the allegations against Andrew. Acar stated that Andrew is accused of abuse of public office and being part of a sexual exploitation ring.
Acar mentioned that two allegations stand out: "Two allegations are prominent. The first is abuse of public office and misconduct. The second is being part of a sexual exploitation ring. We were able to understand the abuse of public office allegation from two incidents in the Epstein documents. The first is that former Prince Andrew sent reports and confidential information obtained during his commercial visits to the Far East while he was the trade envoy of the United Kingdom to Epstein.
In an email he sent in 2010, we also saw that he sent some confidential reports regarding investments to be made in Afghanistan to Epstein. This constituted evidence of abuse of public office and misconduct, leading the British police to initiate an investigation. The other was the issue of sexual activities being organized in some UK buildings, as reported by victims of Epstein."
"HE CAN BE DETAINED FOR 96 HOURS"
On the other hand, Acar stated that Prince Andrew could be held for 96 hours, saying, "Andrew can be held for up to 96 hours. The police may release him or charge him and extend the detention period."
FIRST STATEMENT FROM KING CHARLES
Acar also conveyed the first statement from King Charles during the Haberler.com broadcast. Acar said, "A very quick statement came from the British Royal Family," and in the written statement made by King Charles, he said, "I have learned of the news regarding the suspicion of misconduct with deep concern. The process to be followed from now on is a complete legal process that will ensure this matter is investigated properly, fairly, and in accordance with the law by the appropriate authorities. At this point, as I have expressed before, I would like to state that the relevant authorities have our full and sincere support and cooperation. The law should proceed in its own course. It would not be appropriate for me to make further comments on this matter while the process continues. In the meantime, my family and I will continue to fulfill our duties and services to you," he expressed.
PREPARATIONS FOR ANTI-MONARCHY PROTEST
Finally, Acar stated that preparations are being made for an anti-monarchy protest in England, saying, "Anti-monarchy groups are preparing to protest in front of Buckingham Palace. There will be a march with slogans like 'No to the Monarchy.' Other than that, there is no street movement. We have seen a trust issue against the Royal Family in the last two years. This latest incident shows us that this issue will be discussed more and that the British public will debate the monarchy for a long time," he said.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Mountbatten-Windsor's close relationship with Epstein was mentioned in documents published by the U.S. Department of Justice, and Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre claimed that she had a relationship with Andrew, who was a prince at the time, when she was just 17 years old.
Mountbatten-Windsor, who denied the allegations, had renounced all his titles, including Duke of York, to avoid harming the Royal Family, but due to increasing pressure and newly released documents in the last months of the previous year, the title of "Prince" was also taken from him by King Charles.
It was also brought to the agenda during this period that Mountbatten-Windsor had been paying a nominal annual rent for the mansion he has been living in since 2003 and had acquired a 75-year usage right for 1 million pounds.
The rental of Royal Lodge mansion was also discussed in Parliament following public backlash against the funding of Royal revenues and Mountbatten-Windsor's expenses through taxes. Under pressure, Mountbatten-Windsor vacated his home at Windsor Castle and moved to a farmhouse on the Sandringham estate, which is King Charles's personal property.
It was revealed that Mountbatten-Windsor's ex-wife Sarah Ferguson also had a friendship with Epstein, and many foundations of which Ferguson was the honorary president ended their relationship with the former Duchess of York. It was also revealed that Ferguson had taken her own daughters to Epstein Island, and the Sarah Foundation, named after her, decided to close down.
