Yeni Malatyaspor, which is in last place in the Trendyol 1st League with -21 points, is preparing to withdraw from the league. The yellow-black club has discussed their withdrawal requests with the Turkish Football Federation and the 1st League Clubs Union.
THEY WILL WITHDRAW IF A MAJORITY IS ACHIEVED
Club president Şahin Altınok stated in a written statement that they received a positive outcome from their meeting with the President of the 1st League Clubs Union, Ecmel Faik Sarıalioğlu, and used the following expressions: "We had a meeting with the President of the 1st League Clubs Union, Ecmel Faik Sarıalioğlu. It pleased us that they are aware of the situation our club is in. Other 1st League clubs we spoke with also said, 'we will support you.' Officials from the Turkish Football Federation shared with us that they would respond positively to our request if the necessary majority of signatures is achieved," he said.
"WE SAID THIS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON"
Altınok, who stated that they have been expressing these requests since the beginning of the season, said, "But some thought we were exaggerating the situation. We said let it be seen and identified, but no one came. We have been struggling with young kids since the beginning of the season. Now they don't want to play anymore, and those who find clubs are leaving one by one," he expressed.
"WE ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO BREATHE"
President Altınok stated, "Yeni Malatyaspor Club, which has the obligation of being the team of a city that has been severely affected by the earthquake, with damaged facilities and a stadium that has been closed for weeks, is not in a position to even step onto the field, let alone breathe." He added, "Our misfortune was that after we said we had fully recovered from two major earthquakes, we had to start over with new earthquakes. I appeal to the conscience of the football community from here: Our only concern is that justice is served, provided that our rights in the league are preserved," he explained.
