WENT TO VISIT, NO ONE SAW HIM AGAIN
Salih Ertaş, an 84-year-old mentally disabled man living in the rural Çağlayan neighborhood of Kulp district, left home on February 8 to visit the Dereboyu hamlet and was never heard from again. His family, unable to reach Ertaş, reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center on the evening of February 11. Following the report, teams were dispatched to the area and began search efforts.
Search and rescue teams from AFAD, Kulp Municipality, Kayapınar Municipality, Metropolitan Municipality, and the Regional Directorate of Highways, consisting of hundreds of police and gendarmerie teams, conducted search operations for 23 days. When no trace of Ertaş was found, the efforts were concluded on March 3.
INITIAL FINDINGS POINT TO HIM
Those who saw a motionless person lying about 7 kilometers from Salih Ertaş's home notified the gendarmerie. In the examination by the teams that arrived at the scene, a male corpse without a head was encountered.
In the initial examination conducted through clothing and belongings, it was assessed that the corpse might belong to Salih Ertaş. The body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution morgue for determination of the exact cause of death and identification. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.
