An important change regarding the sale and transfer of second-hand vehicles is coming into effect. Under Law No. 7566 published in the Official Gazette, it has been decided that a fee of 0.2% will be charged on the sale price during vehicle registration transactions. The new application will be valid starting from the beginning of the year.
SALE PRICE WILL BE CONSIDERED AT THE NOTARY
With the regulation, a fee will be collected based on the declared sale price during vehicle transfer transactions conducted in the presence of a notary. Accordingly, the calculated fee will be 0.2% of the sale price. However, due to the established lower limit, the fee to be paid will not be less than one thousand lira, regardless of the calculated amount.
EXCEPTION FOR COMMERCIAL SALES
The new regulation covers individual buying and selling, while providing an exception for commercial activities. This fee will not be applied to vehicle sales made to businesses holding a second-hand motor vehicle trade authorization certificate. This step aims to protect registered and authorized trade.
HERE IS AN EXAMPLE CALCULATION
Example calculations regarding how the application will work have also become clear. In the case of a vehicle with a sale price of 400 thousand lira, the calculated fee would be 800 lira, but due to the lower limit, the amount to be paid will be one thousand lira. For a vehicle with a sale price of 1 million lira, the fee will be 2 thousand lira, and for a vehicle priced at 2 million 500 thousand lira, the fee will be 5 thousand lira.
