The CHP District Chairman Sadık Erdoğan, who took to the streets in Yozgat's Aydıncık district, stating that the potatoes he produced were not profitable and did not bring him any gains, is once again in the spotlight. This time, Erdoğan made derogatory remarks towards the Provincial Directorate of Commerce, which he claims imposed a hefty fine on him, in a video he shared on social media.
CHP District President Sadık Erdoğan, who poured his potatoes onto the street, stating that the potatoes produced in the Aydıncık district of Yozgat are not profitable and are being sold at a loss, has once again made headlines with his statements on social media and allegations of insults towards the Provincial Directorate of Trade.
DETAILS OF THE INCIDENT
In a post on his social media account, Erdoğan claimed that he was fined 17 million 200 thousand TL by the Yozgat Trade Directorate for pouring potatoes onto the street. He stated that the fine was unfairly imposed on him, saying, "I do not accept this fine. Let them fine me for the loss of 128 billion dollars, so the country's economy can relax. If they do not, they are dishonest and disgraceful," he expressed.
In his post, Erdoğan also stated, "As a producer who suffers losses by working and producing, I call out to you from here. Let there be no waste, all our products are free. Those in need can come and take them," he said.
FIVE MONTHS AGO, HE POURED BAGS OF POTATOES ONTO THE STREET
About five months ago, Sadık Erdoğan protested the government's agricultural policies by pouring bags of potatoes onto the street in Kazankaya Village Square. At that time, Deputy Minister of Trade Mahmut Gürcan brought this protest to the national agenda with a post on social media, stating, "We have not allowed the waste of products produced with the sweat of our nation until today, and we will not allow it in the future."
LEGAL PROCESS NOT CLARIFIED
Although Erdoğan claimed in his post that he was fined 17 million 200 thousand TL, it was learned that the Ministry of Trade has not yet taken action on the matter and the fine has not been officially imposed. The ministry has indicated that fines ranging from 1.4 to 17 million TL are foreseen for violations of the Hal Law and related regulations, but despite five months passing, the relevant commission has not determined the amount of the fine.
