Prince Andrew, one of the controversial figures of the Royal Family, left the luxurious residence known as Royal Lodge at midnight following new allegations in the Epstein scandal. This decision, made on the instructions of King Charles, was expedited due to Andrew's relationships that have drawn public backlash and new information contained in the documents.
Following the new and shocking allegations emerging from the Jeffrey Epstein files, one of the most controversial figures in the Royal Family, Prince Andrew, was quietly removed from the luxurious residence known as Royal Lodge at midnight. It was learned that the decision was made directly under the orders of King Charles.
It was stated that Andrew, who has long faced public backlash and fallen from grace due to his connections with Epstein, was forced to leave the residence months earlier than planned. According to palace sources, new information contained in the Epstein documents seriously concerned King Charles, prompting the acceleration of the process.
The 65-year-old Andrew left the 30 million pound, 31-room Royal Lodge late Monday night in the dark. As part of measures taken to avoid being seen, he was transported 132 miles to the royal estate in Sandringham.
It was reported that Andrew is currently temporarily staying in a more modest home called Wood Farm Cottage, and he is expected to move permanently to another house called Marsh Farm at the beginning of April.
A source close to Andrew described the situation with the following words:
"He wanted to stay at Royal Lodge a bit longer, but after the recent developments from the Epstein files, it was made clear to him that he had to leave. This was extremely embarrassing for him. That’s why he preferred to leave in the dark of night, without being seen by anyone."
According to royal circles, Andrew's recent relaxed demeanor around Windsor has further increased public and media backlash. The palace management agreed that it was no longer acceptable for Andrew to remain at Royal Lodge as headlines became harsher by the day.
This development is seen as a turning point for King Charles, who has been fighting for years to remove Andrew from the palace. In palace circles, this process was referred to as the "Royal Lodge siege."
It had previously emerged that Andrew refused to move to Frogmore Cottage, where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were evicted, and then requested both this house and the former residence of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Adelaide Cottage. These requests had caused significant discomfort within the palace.
Although Andrew's close circle had long argued that there was a "solid lease agreement" and that he could not be evicted, recent developments have rendered these claims void.
The new Epstein documents that surfaced on Friday have once again increased the pressure on Andrew. Many figures, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, have stated that Andrew should give a statement to US authorities.
While it was noted that Buckingham Palace is closely monitoring the developments, a statement from the palace said, "This matter is between Prince Andrew and his own conscience."
Prince Andrew was officially stripped of his princely and Duke of York titles in October. Andrew, who agreed to return the lease to the Crown Estate, was given a year to vacate the house. However, palace sources indicate that it has been decided he will leave by the end of January or before his 66th birthday.
It is said that Andrew may make a brief return to Royal Lodge in the coming days to collect his remaining personal belongings.
Andrew's ex-wife Sarah Ferguson was also removed from Royal Lodge, where she had been staying since 2008. It has not yet been announced where Ferguson will live from now on.
Buckingham Palace has refrained from making further comments on the matter.
