The commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards stated that in the event of a possible attack by the U.S., the first target would be Israel, adding that Iran's response would be "deterrent and unpredictable"; this statement has brought the tensions in the Middle East back to the global agenda.
A senior Iranian military official, one of the commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated in an interview published in the foreign press that "if the U.S. launches any attack, Iran's first target will be Israel." These words have once again brought the scale of tension in the Middle East to the forefront of international public attention.
"OUR RESPONSE WILL BE SEVERE AND COMPREHENSIVE"
Commander Hossein Daghighi, in a statement to the Lebanon-based Al Mayadeen television, emphasized that although Iran's military posture is primarily deterrent and defensive, the response Iran would give in the event of war would be "unpredictably severe and comprehensive."
