The President of the Eurasia Strategic Research Foundation, Murat Doğanay, highlighted the critical role of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in Turkey's energy, security, and foreign policy strategies during MÜSİAD's program themed "Two-State Solution and Blue Homeland."
The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, along with the President of the Eurasia Strategic Research Foundation (ASAV), Murat Doğanay, who attended the MÜSİAD organized dinner program themed "Two-State Solution Proposal and Blue Homeland," made striking evaluations regarding the geopolitical importance of Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean. Doğanay stated that the "Two-State Solution" and the "Blue Homeland Doctrine" are two strategic elements that complement each other, emphasizing that the TRNC is at the center of not only diplomatic but also security and energy strategies.
DOĞANAY: CYPRUS IS IN A KEY POSITION IN THE ENERGY COMPETITION AND SECURITY POLICIES OF THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN Doğanay stated that Turkey and the TRNC hold strategic importance as a regional balance factor. He pointed out that the natural gas reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean are vital for both Turkey's energy independence and Europe's supply security. Doğanay reminded that the cost of transporting natural gas extracted from the south of Cyprus to Europe via pipeline through Turkey has been reduced by half. He expressed that this is not just a technical detail but a strategic turning point for Europe's long-term energy security.
Additionally, emphasizing that the TRNC is an integral part of Turkey's long-term security, energy, and foreign policy goals, Doğanay highlighted the importance of regional cooperation and sustainability. Doğanay's statements once again revealed the significance of the TRNC in terms of energy competition, security strategies, and diplomatic balances in the Eastern Mediterranean.
