At a tribal wedding held in the Gebze district of Kocaeli, the bride and groom received 19 million 800 thousand lira in cash and 5 kilograms of gold. Among the guests were many businesspeople, as well as AK Party Kocaeli Deputy Cemil Yaman and CHP Kocaeli Deputy Nail Çiler.
Vahap Ağlamaz, from the Ağlamaz family affiliated with the Digor Tribe of Kars, and Aslı Demir tied the knot in a wedding held at an indoor market in Gebze. Over 5,000 people attended the wedding, where a long chain of halay was followed by a gift table set up according to tribal traditions.
GUESTS COMPETED WITH EACH OTHER
At the wedding, where guests competed to give gifts, the money and gold presented were counted at a table occupied by more than 15 family elders known as 'toy babaları'. It was difficult to fit the money into two large suitcases. More than 5,000 people attended.
AK PARTY AND CHP DEPUTIES ALSO ATTENDED THE WEDDING
Thousands of people attended the wedding, ranging from tribal leaders to members of parliament, and from NGO and association presidents to businesspeople. Among the guests were AK Party Kocaeli Deputy Cemil Yaman and CHP Kocaeli Deputy Nail Çiler.
"WE HAD GUESTS FROM 81 PROVINCES"
The groom's brother, Vahap Ağlamaz, stated, "We had guests from all 81 provinces of Turkey and from different countries around the world. We thank each and every one of them." The wedding concluded with halay that continued into the late hours of the night.
