In a traffic accident in the Erdemli district of Mersin, a minibus carrying children from a dormitory crashed into a parked truck from behind, resulting in the deaths of two people, including one child, and injuring ten others. It was reported that the accident occurred because the minibus driver fell asleep.

The accident occurred in the Yemişkumu beach area of Ayaş neighborhood, Erdemli district on the Mersin-Antalya D400 highway. According to the information obtained, the minibus with license plate 21 BB 849, driven by Mehmet Zemin A., crashed into the trailer with license plate 63 YL 458 of a truck with license plate 27 AGY 921, which was parked in the right lane as the driver fell asleep.

In the accident, it was learned that one child and two people, including orphan children who were brought from Diyarbakır to Mersin for vacation, died, and ten others were injured, one of them seriously. Upon notification of the accident, police, health, gendarmerie, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene. The injured were sent to hospitals in the region by ambulances. After the prosecutor's examination, the bodies removed from the minibus were taken to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

After the accident, it was noted that a part of the minibus was stuck to the trailer of the truck, and one of its wheels had broken off and gone under the truck. It was learned that the driver stated in his initial statement that the accident occurred because he fell asleep.
