The Revenue Administration (GİB), in addition to field studies, has detected 3.6 billion lira of unregistered income aimed at wedding halls and luxury wedding organizers through artificial intelligence-supported audits.

UNREGISTERED AUDIT INITIATED

According to information obtained from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, GİB has initiated a comprehensive unregistered audit targeting wedding halls and companies providing wedding organization services, influenced by complaints from citizens. A significant difference was observed between the declared incomes and the actual amounts collected.

AUDIT IN 474 WEDDING HALLS

As part of the revenue inspections that have been ongoing since the beginning of the year, 1,226 actual audits were conducted in the first phase at 474 wedding halls. However, the audits were not limited to field studies. In this context, 4,623 taxpayers involved in wedding organizations were subjected to an artificial intelligence-supported analysis process. Numerous data such as taxpayers' tax declarations, transaction volumes, bank movements, invoice arrangements, and social media activities were examined in detail using correlation algorithms and big data analytics.

During the audits of the Presidency, wedding organizers for outdoor weddings, companies providing luxury cocktail and invitation services, and classic hall wedding businesses were evaluated separately according to their types of activities. The highest deviation between income and declaration was observed in companies providing luxury wedding services.

DEEMED "RISKY," INVITED TO EXPLAIN

As a result of the analyses conducted, around 1,600 taxpayers were deemed "risky." Risky taxpayers were invited to explain and were asked to provide the necessary clarifications. The findings revealed the extent of unregistered activities in the sectors. A total of 3.6 billion lira of unregistered income was identified for wedding halls and luxury wedding organizers.

"AUDITS WILL CONTINUE"

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that they will continue to audit sectors that cause unregistered economy by not declaring their incomes, and he noted: "Ensuring justice in taxation is our responsibility to millions of citizens who fulfill their obligations. We approach the unregistered economy with zero tolerance. Such analyses not only identify income but also reveal the invisible networks of relationships among the components of the sector."
