Mehmet Nafiz Koca, the publisher of a local newspaper in Elazığ, was attacked by an unidentified person armed with a shotgun while sitting in a gazebo in front of his workplace. The footage captured by security cameras showed the assailant's calmness, which was shocking. While efforts are underway to capture the fleeing attacker, it has been reported that the journalist, who was shot in the leg, is in good health.
There was horror in front of Günışığı Newspaper located on Asya Street in Rızaiye Neighborhood, Elazığ. The newspaper's owner, Mehmet Nafiz Koca, was attacked by an unidentified person with a shotgun while sitting in the gazebo in front of his workplace.
THE ATTACKER IS BEING SOUGHT EVERYWHERE
As the attacker fled, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. Koca, who was injured in the leg, was taken to Fırat University Hospital by ambulance after the initial intervention of the health teams. While police teams conducted an investigation at the scene, efforts were initiated to capture the fleeing suspect.

Security camera footage of the incident has emerged. The footage shows a suspect wearing a beanie approaching Koca with a shotgun and firing at him before fleeing.
GOVERNOR HATİPOĞLU: THE INVESTIGATION IS BEING CONDUCTED THOROUGHLY
Elazığ Governor Numan Hatipoğlu stated on his social media account, "I have learned with sadness about the armed attack on Mehmet Nafiz Koca, the President of the Elazığ City Council and the President of the Elazığ Press and Media Society. I wish him a speedy recovery and send my best wishes. The investigation regarding the incident is being conducted thoroughly," he said.
CHIEF PHYSICIAN ARTAŞ: HIS HEALTH CONDITION IS GOOD
Prof. Dr. Gökhan Artaş, Chief Physician of Elazığ Fırat University Hospital, made a statement regarding the health condition of journalist Mehmet Nafiz Koca, who was injured in the shotgun attack. Prof. Dr. Artaş stated that Koca was conscious and not in life-threatening condition, saying, "Mr. Nafiz Koca is one of the important values raised by our city. He has been subjected to an armed attack. He has a gunshot wound in his right leg, near the knee area. He was brought to the emergency room by 112 teams. After the initial examination and X-rays, it was determined that there were no bone fractures or vascular injuries. However, there is an open wound in the injured area. Therefore, he will be taken to the operating room for cleaning and closure of the wound. His condition is quite good, and he will be moved to the ward shortly," he said.
