Gökçe, who announced on his social media account that the wedding will take place on May 28, used the following expressions:
"Dear friends,
Today, I want to share some news about my private life with you:
We wanted our decision for 'Marriage' with my dear 'life partner' Filiz Kahveci, which we had planned for this summer, not to be hindered by this detention or illegality.
In the face of this injustice and oppression, we have decided not to give up on our dreams and our lives.
Despite the sadness we are experiencing, I must express that while sharing this happy and special news with you, we want to 'note' this unlawful period in history with a pure marriage from another perspective.
