Famous businessman and Honorary Chairman of Anadolu Group Kamil Yazıcı has passed away. It has been reported that Yazıcı's funeral will be held after the noon prayer at Mimar Sinan Mosque in Ataşehir on February 11, and he will be buried in the family cemetery in Maltepe Yüzevler Neighborhood.
Famous businessman Kamil Yazıcı has passed away. In a statement made by Anadolu Group, it was noted that Kamil Yazıcı, whom the Anadolu Group family described as an "irreplaceable elder," died today.
FUNERAL PROGRAM ANNOUNCED
It was reported that Yazıcı's funeral will be held after the noon prayer at the Mimar Sinan Mosque in Ataşehir on February 11, and he will be buried in the family cemetery in Maltepe Yüzevler Neighborhood.
WHO IS KAMİL YAZICI?
Kamil Yazıcı, born in 1929 in Nevşehir, started his business life at the age of 14 in his father's grocery store. While serving in the military, he met businessman İzzet Özilhan in Istanbul in 1950 and established the trade and industry companies that laid the foundations of Anadolu Group.
The partners, who started their trade with a wholesale store selling toys, hardware, and stationery in Tahtakale, later ventured into import and manufacturing. Yazıcı and Özilhan entered the automotive sector by assembling Skoda trucks and Jawa motorcycles from Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic) and also operated in different sectors.
While bringing Adel to life in the pen and stationery sector, Yazıcı played a role in the group's growth with steps such as the production of Isuzu trucks and collaborations developed with world-renowned brands. Additionally, Yazıcı, who was elected as the first Chairman of the Board of the group, which became a holding at the end of the 1960s, continued in this role until 2007.
In 1979, Yazıcı, along with his partner İzzet Özilhan, founded the Anadolu Education and Social Assistance Foundation, leading to the establishment of over 50 educational institutions, dormitories, sports halls, hospitals, and health centers in Turkey.
Yazıcı was awarded an "Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy" by Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1997 and received the Presidential State Superior Service Medal in the same year.
Yazıcı, who transferred his position on the board of Anadolu Group to the second generation in 2007 and continued his role as Honorary Chairman, had his life story published in a book titled "Common Sense." Kamil Yazıcı, who had 6 children from his marriage to Suzan Yazıcı, was a grandfather of 13 grandchildren.
