DJ Sam Baldwin, filming in the city of Marseille, France, was subjected to a violent attack by a local woman. The incident, which began with verbal harassment, escalated when the assailant threw coffee at Baldwin and then attempted to incapacitate the artist with a stun gun. The woman, who physically assaulted Baldwin and then chased him, lost her balance and fell to the ground while trying to pick up a stone. Those moments were captured on video by the artist's camera.
Australian DJ and producer Sam Baldwin (Phikey), known for his videos shot in natural set areas, became an unexpected target of violence in Marseille, his last filming stop. The artist, who was performing in a cove along the coastline, was physically attacked by a local woman.
IT ALL STARTED WITH HER ARRIVAL
The incident was ignited when a woman arrived at the venue after Baldwin's approximately 40-minute performance. According to Baldwin, despite the music being quite low, the woman exhibited an aggressive attitude, claiming that the music was disturbing the surroundings. Tension escalated when the angry woman called the police, even though Baldwin had completely turned off the music.
SHE SPILLED COFFEE ON HIS FACE AND HIT HIM WITH A TASER
The verbal argument quickly spiraled out of control. The attacking woman, hurling heavy insults and curses in French, poured her coffee cup on Baldwin's face. However, the truly frightening moments occurred when the woman pulled out a taser. In footage reflected on her own camera, it was seen that the woman attempted to incapacitate Baldwin with the device, then chased the artist and struck him in the face. As Baldwin tried to distance himself from the area, the attacker attempted to pick up a stone from the ground but lost her balance and fell, moments captured by the camera that allowed the DJ to escape.
LEGAL BATTLE BEGINS
After the incident, Baldwin, along with the footage, approached law enforcement agencies and faced a second crisis due to the video he shared on social media. The unidentified woman requested content removal on YouTube and Instagram, claiming that the footage "damaged her reputation" and "led to harassment." She even sent legal threats to Baldwin via email.
BALDWIN: THIS IS A PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE
In order to comply with the platforms' rules, Baldwin censored the woman's face and stated that he would not back down. Emphasizing that what happened was not a personal dispute but an armed attack that occurred in a public space, the artist expressed: "While trying to escape the consequences of her violent actions, she is trying to portray herself as a victim. The footage taken while a crime is being committed in public should be published for the public good and safety."
