The first images of journalist Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who is among the four people detained as part of the drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, have emerged. Ersoy was taken to the hospital for a health check accompanied by gendarmerie teams.
As part of the "drug investigation" that initially targeted celebrities and later expanded to include media workers, Habertürk TV General Director Mehmet Akif Ersoy has been detained.
STATEMENT FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE: DETENTION ORDER FOR 8 PEOPLE
In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the following expressions were used: "As part of the investigation conducted by our Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a detention order has been issued for 8 suspects on charges of Purchasing, Accepting, or Possessing Drugs or Stimulants, Using Drugs or Stimulants, and Providing Place and Means for Use. Upon our instruction, Mehmet Akif Ersoy and 3 suspects have been detained by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command, and the detention procedures for the other suspects are ongoing."
REMOVED FROM HIS POSITION
Habertürk made a statement regarding Ersoy's status. It was announced that Ersoy has been removed from his position by the TMSF. The statement included the following: "Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the General Director of Habertürk TV, has been detained as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. In the interest of the investigation, Mehmet Akif Ersoy has been removed from his position. This is announced to the public with respect."
Habertürk, where Ersoy served as General Director, was seized in the investigation against Can Holding, and the TMSF was appointed as the trustee.
