A forest fire that broke out in the İsmetiye neighborhood of the Osmangazi district in Bursa quickly grew due to the wind's influence. As the flames spread towards residential areas, the villagers were evacuated in tears.
While Turkey continues its fight against forest fires, a fire report also came from the Osmangazi district of Bursa. The fire, which broke out in the rural area of İsmetiye Neighborhood near the Demirtaş Viaduct on the Istanbul-Ankara Highway in the afternoon, quickly got out of control and spread.
TEAMS WERE DISPATCHED TO THE AREA
The cause of the fire, which has not yet been determined, spread over a wide area with dense smoke, while nearby citizens reported it to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon notification, a large number of firefighters, gendarmerie, AFAD, and Forest Regional Directorate teams were dispatched to the area.
THEY WERE EVACUATED IN TEARS
The flames reaching the doors of some houses caused panic in the neighborhood. Citizens who left their homes were evacuated in tears. While the fire area was intervened from the air with helicopters belonging to the forest and gendarmerie, many personnel also intervened from the ground, and some volunteers supported the extinguishing efforts. According to initial determinations, there were no casualties, but it was learned that some houses were damaged. Teams continue their cooling and containment efforts in the area.
IZMIR HAD ALSO FALLEN TO FLAMES YESTERDAY
Yesterday, a similar fire broke out in the Aliağa district of İzmir and was brought under control with the intervention of teams. These consecutive fires once again highlighted the need for caution against the increasing risks during the summer months.
