The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a series of warnings as temperatures rise across the country, while Rize is battling snow at the end of June. In Balıklı Plateau, the snow depth has exceeded 5 meters in some areas due to the impact of avalanches.
In Rize, the teams of the Special Provincial Administration are working with heavy machinery on the roads blocked by snow in the highlands to ensure that villagers migrating to the plateaus do not face any hardships. The teams are trying to clear the snow in areas of Balıklı Plateau, which is 2,400 meters above sea level, where the snow thickness has exceeded 5 meters in some places due to the avalanche. Operator Osman Dedecan stated, "The work is intense and tough. There is a lot of snow in the high areas due to the avalanche."
In the highlands of the city, the teams of the Special Provincial Administration continue their efforts to clear the snow masses that have reached several meters in height due to the winter and avalanches, blocking the plateau roads. The teams are working with heavy machinery on the roads blocked by snow to ensure that not only livestock breeders but also villagers migrating to the plateaus do not face any hardships. The teams are trying to clear the snow in areas of Balıklı Plateau, which is 2,400 meters above sea level in the Ardeşen district, where the snow thickness has exceeded 5 meters in some places due to the avalanche. The snow work carried out by the teams to open the snow-covered roads for the villagers preparing to migrate has also been captured by drone cameras.
"WE CONTINUE TO WORK UNDER ALL CONDITIONS"
Heavy machinery operator Osman Dedecan said, "The work is intense and tough. There is a lot of snow in the high areas due to the avalanche. We encounter snow masses exceeding 3 to 5 meters in sections. We have been working for a week; we will finish this plateau in 2-3 days. The weather conditions here are constantly changing; we continue to work under all conditions."
"SNOW, SEA, PLATEAU, ON ONE SIDE OF OUR HEART"
Yakup Şişmanlar, who is trying to go to the plateau, thanked the teams, saying, "When the time comes for the plateau, the special administration opens our road every year by fighting this snow. We come to our plateau in the first week of July. It is better for us to struggle with the snow and come here. Our sea is the plateau. The sea is here too, but the surface of our sea is currently covered with snow. Snow, sea, plateau; it is always on one side of our lake," he said.
