Galatasaray has signed Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara from Norwich City, an English Championship team, for a transfer fee of 18 million euros. The 25-year-old player, who has become the most expensive signing in the history of Galatasaray, is also the second most expensive transfer in Turkish football. This signing by Cimbom has caused a great stir in Germany.
REACTION FROM KÖHN'S FORMER CLUB: THIS SHOULD STOP
According to Bild, Galatasaray's acquisition of Gabriel Sara for 18 million euros has surprised and angered Derrick Köhn's former club, Hannover 96. Marcus Mann, the Sporting Director of Hannover, stated in an interview with a German newspaper, "We wonder how something like this is possible. This should stop!" Hannover, the German club, had filed a lawsuit against Galatasaray due to delayed payments for Derrick Köhn, whom they sold to Galatasaray during the previous season's winter break.
GALATASARAY OWES 2.5 MILLION EUROS
The yellow-red club had announced to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) that they had reached an agreement with Hannover 96 for the transfer of Derrick Köhn in February, for a transfer fee of 3.35 million euros and an additional 300,000 euros in conditional bonuses. Galatasaray currently owes Hannover 2.5 million euros for the Köhn transfer. It has been reported that Cimbom proposed to postpone the payment date or make a new agreement, but the German club rejected these suggestions.
