The details of the critical meeting conducted by the three-member delegation assigned by the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission with Abdullah Öcalan are becoming clearer. One of the delegation members, Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit from the DEM Party, reported that Öcalan said, "I wish the CHP had come as well" during the meeting.

The delegation that met with Abdullah Öcalan in Imralı included DEM Party member Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, who revealed the details of the meeting. Koçyiğit stated that many topics such as Syria, SDF, legal regulations, and Israel were discussed during the meeting, and she reported that Öcalan specifically mentioned the CHP.

"I WISH CHP HAD COME TOO"

Koçyiğit noted that Öcalan began his remarks by explaining the historical journey of the PKK and the historical alliance between Kurds and Turks; she emphasized the importance of the CHP as the founding party of the Republic and that the CHP must be involved in this process, which is well known to the public. Öcalan made a specific remark about the CHP not attending, saying, "I wish CHP had come too."

"HE ADDRESSED EACH MEMBER BY NAME"

Koçyiğit expressed that no video recording was made during the meeting, and only an audio recording was taken for the minutes, stating, "Mr. Öcalan addressed each member by name, saying 'Mr. Fethi, Mr. Hüseyin.' As a delegation, we also addressed Mr. Öcalan as 'you'."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Three members from the AK Party, MHP, and DEM Party, operating within the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) solution commission, went to Imralı Island to meet with Abdullah Öcalan.

This was the first time that members from the AK Party and MHP met with Öcalan, who had previously been visited by DEM Party members.

In a written statement from the TBMM Presidency regarding the matter, it was reminded that the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission, officially known as, had held 18 meetings since August 5, and in the last meeting on November 21, a decision was made to listen to Abdullah Öcalan with a qualified majority.

The statement noted, "In line with this decision, on November 24, 2025, the delegation went to the Imralı High Security Prison," and added:

"In this context, following the Peace and Democratic Society Call made on February 27, detailed statements from (Öcalan) were taken regarding the organization's self-dissolution and disarmament, as well as questions raised about the implementation of the March 10 agreement in Syria. As a result of the meeting, positive outcomes were achieved in terms of social integration, strengthening brotherhood, and positively advancing the process towards a regional perspective."

The delegation included AK Party Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Yayman, MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız, and DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit.

CHP DID NOT PROVIDE A MEMBER

After the visit, it is expected that these individuals will inform the other commission members and complete the commission's listening efforts. Subsequently, work will begin on the final report.

The New Path group, consisting of CHP, DEVA, Future, and Felicity parties, opposed the commission's visit to Imralı and did not provide a member to the delegation.
