The defendant who killed a father and son in Karamürsel appeared before the judge for the first time; the defendant stated, "I fired out of fear for my life," while two life sentences are being sought against him.
The trial of the defendant who killed a father and son with a gun in Kocaeli's Karamürsel district has begun. The detained defendant İ.K. (76) claimed in his statement at the court that he acted out of "fear for his life."
During the hearing held at the Kocaeli 3rd High Criminal Court, the defendant İ.K. and the lawyers of the parties were present. In his defense, the defendant claimed that he sold a car to Aykut Canımoğlu, who passed away about 10 months before the incident, but did not receive the payment.
İ.K. stated that he saw his son's name and the agreed amount on the receipt shown to him during the sale, saying, "I couldn't reach my son, but I signed the receipt trusting it. Later, I learned that the money did not come."
"I FILED A LAWSUIT WHEN I COULDN'T GET THE MONEY"
The defendant, who stated that he filed a lawsuit when he realized he could not get his money, said he wanted to talk to the father and son he encountered in front of the hospital on the day of the incident. İ.K. alleged that Aykut Canımoğlu threatened and insulted him, saying, "He reached for his waist and approached me, I got scared and fired."
The defendant claimed that father Mehmet Canımoğlu also approached him, saying, "I thought he had a gun in his hand, I fired again. After that, I don't remember what I did."
REQUEST FOR LIFE IMPRISONMENT TWICE
The court panel postponed the hearing to address the deficiencies in the file. In the indictment prepared by the Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the defendant is facing a request for life imprisonment twice for the crime of "intentional killing" and a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years for the crime of "violating Law No. 6136."
