A 20-year-old man, who is alleged to have set fire to his uncle's house in Adana by throwing a Molotov cocktail while three children were sleeping inside, has been arrested. Ali Artış, whose house was set on fire, said, "We got the older ones out, but my baby was left inside. I went into the fire and took my baby out of the crib. What would I have done if my children had died? This is not a human being; this is a monster."

A terrifying incident occurred on Sunday, June 22, around 01:00 in a house located on 919 Street in the Yunus Emre neighborhood of the Yüreğir district of Adana. The couple, livestock breeder Ali Artış and Meryem Artış (22), had tea in the living room after putting their three children to sleep.
SET FIRE TO THE HOUSE WHILE HIS NEPHEWS WERE SLEEPING
At that moment, Alican Artış arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at the house and fled. As the flames quickly engulfed the house, the Artış couple went outside with their children. When Meryem Artış realized that 3-month-old Abdullah was still in his crib, she entered the flames and rescued her baby. The couple wept in front of their burning house.
THE COUPLE WAS LEFT ON THE STREET WITH THEIR 3 CHILDREN
Upon receiving reports from the surrounding residents, fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the address. The fire was quickly extinguished with the intervention of the firefighters. Medical personnel intervened in the ambulance for the family affected by the smoke. While the belongings in the house became unusable, the Artış couple was left on the street with their 3 children.
FILED A COMPLAINT AGAINST HIS NEPHEW
Ali Artış stated that he had given his nephew Alican Artış 100 small livestock a while ago but had not received the money, and that he demanded 2 million lira from him because he was in debt to the market, claiming that he set fire to their house.

With tears in her eyes, Meryem Artış recounted her experience, saying, "We got the older ones out, my baby was left inside. I entered the fire and took my baby out of the crib. My children are still terrified; their psychology has been disturbed. I try to calm them down, saying, 'I hope we will get better.' What would I have done if my children had died? The person who did this is not human; he is a monster. If he had set it on fire during the day or when we were not there. They came to take my children's lives. I still cannot forget those moments. I could have failed to save my children," she said.
“I DIDN'T DO IT” DEFENSE DID NOT SAVE HIM
Acting on the complaint of the Artış couple, the teams from the Yüreğir District Police Department's Crime Prevention and Investigation Bureau detained the suspect Alican Artış at the house where he was hiding. Alican Artış, who was taken to the police station, claimed during his interrogation that he had asked his uncle to pay his debt to him but denied setting the house on fire. After his procedures at the police station, Alican Artış was referred to the courthouse and was arrested by the court.
