The countdown has begun for the National Vehicle Identification System (UTTS) application, which closely concerns millions of vehicle owners. The deadline for the installation of the Vehicle Identification Unit, which must be fitted to workplace vehicles, will end on June 30. Those who do not fulfill their obligation by this date will face fines ranging from 7,000 to 140,000 Turkish Lira.

The National Vehicle Identification System allows companies to record fuel purchased for business vehicles directly linked to the vehicle and to automate the document arrangement. This way, fuel receipts can be processed electronically into the system and made declarable. With this system, manual license plate entry is eliminated at fuel stations that operate in integration with UTTS. Vehicle information is automatically transferred to the Payment Recording Device (ÖKC) in the system during payment. Thus, the issued receipts become valid both technically and legally.
THE PENALTY IS VERY HIGH
Taxpayers who act contrary to the procedures and principles regulated in the UTTS Communiqué or fail to fulfill their obligations within the specified periods may face Special Procedural Penalties ranging from 7,000 to 140,000 lira.
"A SYSTEM TO PREVENT TAX EVASION"
Mehmet Dal, who works at an authorized UTTS dealer in Diyarbakır, stated that the work is new. Dal said, "This system is designed to prevent fuel leakage and tax evasion for companies. In this way, fuel leakage and tax evasion can be prevented. Our citizens can apply through the Turkish Republic Mint, go to the internet link from there, and after making the payment from the link, a installation code is sent to their phone. With that installation code, they can have it installed for free at authorized installation locations of UTTS across Turkey's 81 provinces. Company vehicles can easily get their fuel from petrol stations," he said.
THE PROCESS TAKES 4 MINUTES
Dal stated that no fee is charged for installation at authorized UTTS installation locations and said:
"You can also file a complaint about those who charge fees to the mint. This process currently takes about 4 minutes; it has dropped to 4 minutes across Turkey. In the beginning, it took a lot of time, but now we can complete the installation process in 4 minutes. A specific date had previously been set by the mint for the installation date, but due to high demand for vehicles from companies, the installations could not keep up, so the date was extended to June 30. Until June 30, all corporate fleet vehicles can come and have their installation done." - DIYARBAKIR
