Turkish teacher Sait Karakaş, who is receiving treatment for a bee sting on his right leg in Gümüşhane, wrote a satirical poem describing his situation after he couldn't get an appointment with his doctor. Expressing his grievances with lines like "If you say MHRS, it's fully booked, painkillers don't work, I can't find a turn from Teacher Kasım," Karakaş stated, "My aim was not to criticize my teacher."
Sait Karakaş, who serves as the Deputy Principal and Turkish teacher at Tekke Middle School in Gümüşhane, wanted to make an appointment with Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist Op. Dr. Süleyman Kasım Taş at Gümüşhane State Hospital due to pain in his right leg that started about 6 months ago. Despite trying multiple times through the Central Physician Appointment System (MHRS) and the kiosk devices in the hospital, Karakaş was unable to get an appointment due to the high demand, prolonging his examination process.
Addressing this situation in a humorous and literary manner, Karakaş immortalized the process with a poem he wrote in the form of satire. In the expressions within the poem, he pointed out that the high demand was due to the interest shown in the doctor and the quality of service provided.
After a while, Karakaş, who was examined, also read the poem he wrote to the doctor. The event where the intense work pace met literature revealed the sincere relationship between the patient and the physician. The poem written became a lasting memory of both the process experienced and the satisfaction felt.
"I HAVE A SMALL COMPLAINT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE POEM" Op. Dr. Süleyman Kasım Taş, who works at Gümüşhane State Hospital, expressed that patients thank him in different ways after treatment processes, but this was the first time he encountered such an event. "My teacher Sait first wanted to make an appointment through our MHRS system regarding his complaint. When he saw the intensity and that the process was prolonged, he said he would convey this situation through poetry since we also meet in social life. He expressed the situation with a staged approach. It became a permanent work for us. He also stated that the treatment process and the experienced intensity were due to our preference. This made us very happy. At the beginning of the poem, he has a small complaint in his own words. However, he also expresses that the reason for this is the quality of service we provide, our friendly approach, and our preference. This also makes us happy. He stated that he wrote it to say that we actually do a good and quality job with his own literary style. Encountering the poem is always valuable for us. The greatest gift is the expression of the patient's satisfaction. However, receiving this as a permanent work makes us even happier. We believe this will always be a great and lasting memory for us," he said.
"MY AIM WAS NOT TO CRITICIZE OUR TEACHER" Sait Karakaş, the Deputy Principal and Turkish teacher at Tekke Middle School, stated that he had been trying to get an appointment for treatment for a long time but could not get a slot due to the high interest shown in Op. Dr. Taş. "About 6 months ago, I started to feel pain in my right leg. First, I tried to make an appointment through the MHRS system, but despite entering several times, the system was filling up very quickly each time. Then I tried the kiosk machine at the hospital. I stopped by some mornings on my way to school, but I couldn't find a slot there either. Finally, I called him. 'Doctor, what kind of attention is this? I can't find a slot either from MHRS or the kiosk,' I said. A few days passed, and I came without knowing it was the day of the surgery, so I returned empty-handed. A few days later, I called again. This time he said he would go to a workshop. As the time extended, I started to write this in the form of poetry and satire. We joked among ourselves. The poem emerged this way. Today we found our turn. I entered Op. Dr. Kasım's room. I had shared some parts of the poem with him before. I sat down and read the sections of the poem. He was very honored, and I was very happy. A friendly atmosphere was created between us, and let's say we are both happy. Satire is famous in literature. In satires, certain things are conveyed to the other party in pointed ways. My aim in writing this poem was never to criticize my teacher Süleyman Kasım. I tried to make beautiful conclusions at the end so that the intensity of the system and the attention shown to him would not be misunderstood," he said.
