The confessor Nevzat Bahtiyar WAITED FOR 50 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE BODY After the discovery of Narin's body, the gendarmerie deepened the investigation and started to re-examine the security cameras overlooking the Eğertutmaz Stream and the area. Especially the camera recordings from the day Narin went missing enabled the gendarmerie to reach an important detail. In the footage, it was determined that a vehicle parked near the point where Narin's body was found waited in the field for 50 minutes between 15:40 and 16:30.
CONFESSED HIS CRIME DURING CROSS-EXAMINATION It was determined that the owner of the suspicious vehicle was Nevzat Bahtiyar, who made important confessions about Salim Güran. Bahtiyar, who was taken into custody, revealed chilling details during the cross-examination. Bahtiyar stated that the lifeless body of the little girl was delivered to him by her uncle Salim Duran, and that he was offered money to get rid of the body, saying, "I accepted his offer and after driving the body in the car for a while, I left it in the riverbed covered with a sack and stones."
FAMILY MEMBERS UNDER ARREST After Bahtiyar's statement, the gendarmerie detained all family members, considering the possibility that Narin was a victim of a family murder. Narin's father was later released.
WHAT HAPPENED? On August 21, when Narin Güran, who went to a Quran course in Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district, did not return home after the course, her family searched for her on their own. When they couldn't find her, Narin's father Arif Güran reported her missing on the same day around 20:00. As a result, numerous search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area, and searches were conducted in houses in the neighborhood and vehicles entering the village.
While the search efforts were ongoing, E.G. (18), Narin's brother, was detained due to bite marks on his arm. When it could not be determined whether the bite marks belonged to Narin in the examination at the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute, E.G. was released.
Then Narin's uncle, who is also the muhtar of the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood, Salim Güran, was taken into custody. It was determined that the DNA samples taken from his vehicle matched the DNA samples from Narin's clothes, and Salim Güran was arrested for "intentional killing" and "deprivation of liberty".
The teams, who focused on the previously searched areas again, conducted a search in the Eğertutmaz Stream, which is 2 kilometers away from the neighborhood, and found Narin's lifeless body on the 19th day. It was determined that Narin was thrown into the stream with a sack and covered with stones after being killed.
