Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported on the latest situation in the region following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir. Minister Yerlikaya stated that there were no fatalities as a result of the earthquake, but 26 people were lightly injured. He also mentioned that four buildings collapsed due to the earthquake, three of which had been evacuated after a previous earthquake.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made statements regarding the latest situation in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir after the earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1.
Yerlikaya stated that there were no casualties in the earthquake and that 26 people were slightly injured, saying, "Everyone has started their duties. Actions have been taken regarding the first response. This earthquake, dear friends, was felt in the provinces of Manisa, Izmir, Uşak, Bursa, Istanbul, Yalova, and Çanakkale. Thankfully, there have been no casualties in all these provinces, including our affected Sındırgı, Balıkesir. In Sındırgı, 26 of our citizens have been slightly injured and have applied to the hospital, and our Minister of Health has also provided this information to the press. So far, all of them have been discharged, and I would like to extend my best wishes to each of them," he said.
12 AFTERSHOCKS OF 4 AND ABOVE
Yerlikaya stated that 507 calls have been received by the 112 Emergency Call Center so far, noting that 30 of these calls were related to damage, and said, "12 aftershocks of 4 and above occurred. Damage assessment work has begun." he stated.
FOUR BUILDINGS COLLAPSED, THREE WERE VACANT
Minister Yerlikaya announced that four buildings collapsed in the earthquake. He stated that three of these buildings were evacuated during the earthquake that occurred in August, saying, "One building that contained four independent workplaces collapsed." he stated.
Yerlikaya expressed that they would offer two options to citizens whose buildings were severely damaged, saying, "We will ask if you want a container or rental assistance. We have prepared everything for these." he said.
Recalling that there was a power outage for 1.5 hours after the earthquake in Sındırgı, Yerlikaya stated that there is currently no problem with energy.
