The owner of the defense industry company ASSAN Group, Emin Öner, and the general manager, Gürcan Okumuş, were arrested on charges of having connections with FETÖ and engaging in military espionage.

FETÖ INVESTIGATION INTO ASSAN GROUP

The investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office continues regarding Emin Öner, the owner of "ASSAN Group," and Gürcan Okumuş, the general manager of the company, who were detained and arrested on the grounds of being connected to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) and committing military espionage.

As part of the investigation, the procedures of 3 suspects, including a former Mechanical and Chemical Industry (MKE) employee and former colonel, who still have a work record within ASSAN Group, have been completed at the police station.

After their health checks, the suspects were brought to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.

BOSS AND COMPANY MANAGER ARRESTED

Among the suspects who gave statements at the prosecutor's office, the former colonel and former MKE employee were arrested, while the former ASSAN Group employee was referred to the peace criminal court with a request for judicial control. The peace criminal court decided to arrest 2 suspects in line with the request and to release 1 suspect under the condition of a travel ban abroad and signature as a form of judicial control.

INVESTIGATION

In the recent investigations known to the public as "military espionage," conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that the suspect Emin Öner, the owner of the companies operating under the name "ASSAN Group," and Gürcan Okumuş, the general manager of the company, were connected to FETÖ and engaged in military espionage activities.

Öner and Okumuş were detained on August 27 for the crimes of "being a member of an armed terrorist organization" and "military espionage," and 10 companies operating under "ASSAN Group" were appointed as trustees by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF).

By the peace criminal court, suspect Öner was arrested on August 31 for the crimes of "being a member of an armed terrorist organization" and "destroying, using for purposes other than intended, fraudulently obtaining, stealing documents related to the security of the state" within the scope of FETÖ, while Okumuş was arrested for the crime of "destroying, using for purposes other than intended, fraudulently obtaining, stealing documents related to the security of the state."
