"HE THREW A SOUND BOMB AT US"
Ahmet Babacan, a resident of the neighborhood, recounted the events.
Babacan said, "I heard gunshots in the morning. Then I heard one of my neighbors shouting, 'There is an attack on the police station.' When I went out to the balcony, my neighbor across said, 'It's under your balcony.' When he pointed, he shot at my neighbor as well, and he got injured. He started running towards the end of the street. When we saw this, we went downstairs. There was a police officer following him. Our police officer was also shot. Another civilian police officer arrived. The police officer who came also started shooting. A mutual conflict broke out. We were behind him. We were pointing."
When he said this, he threw a sound bomb towards us. He had a rifle in his hand. He was either out of bullets or had been shot, so he was lying motionless on the ground and trying to take something out of his bag. During that process, we jumped on him and caught him. We handed him over to the police. We know the attacker's father; he is a respectable person who has been living here for 15 years. In fact, his father had no idea. We woke his father up. His father didn't even know. When he came to the car and saw, his father was shocked and stunned. The shotgun was his father's licensed weapon. There were about 40-50 bullets. He had a knife. He was wearing a hood," he said.
