130-KILOMETER WALL FROM IRAN TO AFGHANISTAN-PAKISTAN BORDER
According to the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), Mumini inspected the northeastern border of the country. Mumini said, "The section we visited today is the border wall being constructed by the Iranian army in Razavi Khorasan and South Khorasan (on the Afghanistan border). So far, approximately 130 kilometers of wall have been built, and 185 kilometers of infrastructure work has been completed."
Iranian Ground Forces Commander Brigadier General Kiyomers Haydari stated in a declaration on May 26 that a 400-kilometer security wall would be built along the country's eastern border, which includes Afghanistan and Pakistan, by the end of the year, and reported that 103 kilometers of the wall had been constructed.
The Tehran administration aims to "prevent irregular migration and regime-opposing elements from infiltrating the country" with the 4-meter-high concrete wall it is constructing along the Afghanistan and Pakistan border.
