The 2025-2026 academic year will begin on September 8. In the new term, which will be conducted under the theme of "Family Year," environmental awareness, family values, and awareness of digital risks will be emphasized. Practices such as "school without bells" and "mobile phone ban" will be implemented for students, while the new Maarif Model will be gradually put into effect.

The circular published with the signature of Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin and sent to all provinces states that the new academic year will begin on September 8, 2025. The Ministry is starting this year's educational process with many innovations both thematically and structurally.

"FAMILY YEAR" FOCUSED WORKS

With the approval of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the year 2025 has been declared the "Family Year." In this context, protecting and strengthening the family institution during the educational process and ensuring that the time children spend with their families is of high quality have become primary goals. The circular also emphasized the importance of raising awareness against digital risks and threats. Student clubs, projects, and activities will be shaped in accordance with the "Family Year" theme.

FIRST LESSON: PROTECTING THE GREEN HOMELAND

The new academic year will start with a lesson aimed at increasing environmental awareness. In the first week, the theme "Protecting the Green Homeland Against Forest Fires" will be addressed in all schools. In this context, activities to increase love for nature, tree planting events, forest cleaning, and practices that strengthen environmental awareness will be carried out. These topics will also remain on the agenda throughout the academic year.

EMPHASIS ON FAMILY AND COMMUNITY IN EDUCATION

Contents highlighting the importance of family environments will be published on digital platforms such as EBA, HEMBA, and Velivizyon. Additionally, projects such as My Educational Journey with My Family, the Maarif Model Parent School, and Family School will be expanded. Cooperation will be established between schools and public education centers to encourage active parental participation in the educational processes.

RESOURCE AND UNIFORM REGULATIONS

The Ministry will not allow any materials other than the resources distributed for free to be used by students. Practices that would impose additional financial burdens on parents will be avoided. The color, fabric, and logos of school uniforms will be determined by the school family associations and announced on their official websites.

NEW MAARIF MODEL STARTING

The Turkey Century Maarif Model will be gradually implemented this year. Kindergarten, 1st-2nd grades, 5th-6th grades, and high school preparatory, 9th and 10th grades will fall under this scope. Professional training for teachers will be completed, and groups of no more than 50 students will be formed in classrooms. Within the model, students will be ensured to be closer to the city, culture, history, science, art, and sports.

BELL-LESS SCHOOL AND MOBILE PHONE BAN

In schools deemed appropriate, the "bell-less school" practice will be implemented. When a bell is necessary, the sound level will be reduced and selected from sounds determined by the Ministry. Additionally, it will be prohibited to have mobile phones in the classroom, and teachers will not use phones during lessons.

ATATÜRK WEEK WILL BE BROUGHT FORWARD

Since Atatürk Week coincides with the first mid-term break this year, events will be held a week earlier, from November 10-16. Exhibitions, conferences, and competitions will be organized in events attended by students, teachers, and parents.

ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY

Efforts will be made in schools for energy conservation, water management, waste awareness, and increasing green areas. Awareness-raising activities on sustainability will be carried out through the "Energy-Friendly Blue Green School Label" application.

OTHER REGULATIONS

  • The clean use of books will be encouraged, and they will be ensured to be returned to schools at the end of the year.
  • Various volunteer and social responsibility projects will be implemented to increase students' sense of responsibility.
  • Opening "special branches" that would cause segregation in schools will not be allowed.
  • Graduation ceremonies will be held in areas determined by the school and district directorates in a way that does not impose additional burdens on parents.
  • Programs that will develop students' talents in science, culture, art, and sports will be prioritized.
