The 7th General President of the CHP, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, strongly denied the allegations that Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş opposed his candidacy for the presidency. Speaking to Ekol TV, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "It's completely a lie; I don't know why whoever is saying it is saying it."
Kılıçdaroğlu broke his silence regarding comments that he had reservations about Mansur Yavaş's candidacy and that he no longer wanted him to be a candidate.
"WHY WOULD I MAKE SUCH A STATEMENT?"
Kılıçdaroğlu stated that journalists should only trust the statements he directly made and those published from his official account, saying, "I have no such statement. It's completely a lie; I don't know why whoever is saying it is saying it. There is no presidential election yet. Why would I make such a statement, and why would I put a reservation on Mansur Bey? Someone is lying, and everyone is believing it. I haven't spoken to anyone, and I haven't given any statements to anyone."
"I DON'T KNOW WHY THESE LIES ARE BEING TOLD"
Emphasizing that the allegations do not reflect the truth, Kılıçdaroğlu warned against misinformation regarding the process, stating, "I don't know why these lies are being told."
SO WHAT WERE THE ALLEGATIONS?
According to TGRT News TV Ankara Representative Fatih Atik, Kılıçdaroğlu expressed in his evaluations to his close circle that the party management should determine a new presidential candidate to replace Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently in prison.
Atik noted that Kılıçdaroğlu is not in favor of Mansur Yavaş's candidacy, stating, "Kemal Bey tells both the party organization and his close team that politics cannot be done over the fate of one person or a few individuals. Current mayors should serve the people of the provinces they were elected in."
