At the summit in the locked-down White House, Ukraine proposed a $100 billion arms purchase and a $50 billion drone production agreement to the United States following security guarantees.
According to a report by the Financial Times, in a meeting hosted by the United States, Ukraine proposed an agreement for the purchase of weapons and the production of drones with the aim of ensuring "peace."
RUSSIA WILL NOT ACCEPT AGREEMENTS INVOLVING TERRITORIAL CONCESSIONS
At the meeting held at the White House under the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump, a clarifying text regarding Ukraine's position was distributed. Accordingly, Ukraine stated that it would not accept agreements involving territorial concessions to Russia and reiterated its stance on achieving a ceasefire as the first step towards a "comprehensive peace agreement."
The text stated that "a lasting peace should be based not on concessions and unreciprocated gifts to (Russian President Vladimir) Putin, but on a strong security framework that will prevent future attacks."
$50 BILLION DRONE PRODUCTION AGREEMENT
Ukraine committed to purchasing $100 billion worth of weapons from the U.S. in exchange for guarantees provided by the U.S. after peace is established with Russia. The text indicated that the financing for this purchase would be provided by Europe. Additionally, Ukraine stated that it would enter into a $50 billion drone production agreement with the U.S.
The text did not clearly define which weapons Ukraine wanted to procure under the agreement. It was claimed that, in line with the proposals, the Kiev administration suggested purchasing weapons and a drone production agreement from the U.S. with the goal of "securing a long-term peace framework." According to U.S. media, following the prolonged discussions at the White House, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's planned interview with Fox News was canceled.
