Iran's message to Trump is very clear: It would be the biggest mistake the U.S. could make.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that they would respond strongly to any potential attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, stating, "An attack on Iran's nuclear facilities would be the biggest mistake the U.S. could make." Emphasizing that they would also monitor the Trump administration's policy regarding Iran, Araghchi added, "At the moment, I do not see a new negotiation process with the U.S."

The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi, in an interview with Qatari media, evaluated the relations with the USA, nuclear negotiations, and regional developments.

Emphasizing that there is a trust problem between the USA and Iran, Arakchi stated that the Trump administration needed to take concrete steps to establish this trust. Noting the long history between Iran and the USA, Arakchi said, "Unfortunately, this process has been filled with negative attitudes and even hostile actions against Iran. Since the Islamic Revolution, the USA's policies towards Iran have consistently been hostile."

A CLIMATE OF UNRELIABILITY BETWEEN IRAN AND THE USA PREVAILS

Recalling that the USA unilaterally withdrew from the nuclear agreement in 2018, Arakchi said, "This is just one example. The assassination of General Qassem Soleimani and other attacks against Iran are also part of the USA's stance. Such actions have created a significant atmosphere of distrust between Iran and the USA, and this trust cannot be re-established with a single word."

"I DO NOT SEE A NEW NEGOTIATION PROCESS WITH THE USA"

Stating that they will closely monitor the policies and steps the new administration in the USA will take regarding Iran, Arakchi said, "We will closely follow how Washington will approach the nuclear agreement and Iran's nuclear program. Accordingly, we will determine our own stance. For now, I do not see a new negotiation process with the USA. However, it may be possible for a new process to begin depending on the decisions the USA will make. It is not impossible, but starting this process is quite difficult."

"IF THERE IS AN ATTACK, IRAN WILL RESPOND QUICKLY AND SEVERELY"

Addressing Israel's threats of attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, Arakchi warned the USA not to participate in any potential attack against Iran. He stated that they would respond quickly and severely to any potential attack on nuclear facilities, saying, "An attack on Iran's nuclear facilities would be the biggest mistake the USA could make."

Arakchi noted that Iran's nuclear facilities are located in different regions of the country and are protected by strong air defense systems, stating, "These facilities are not located in just one point, but in many different regions. Moreover, access to these facilities is extremely difficult, even impossible, even with airstrikes."

Arakchi said, "We will not wait and analyze as we did in the past. If an attack is carried out on our nuclear facilities, Iran will respond quickly and severely. The USA and Israel know very well what targets we are capable of hitting. The result would be a large war that would engulf the entire region. This is a disaster that neither the regional countries nor the international community would want. I do not think the USA will make such a significant strategic mistake."

"IRAN DOES NOT HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS"

Stating that his country does not consider producing nuclear weapons, Arakchi said, "Iran does not currently possess nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons are not part of Iran's military doctrine. We ensure our security through other means, and nuclear weapons are prohibited by our religious beliefs."

Recalling the fatwa of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei regarding the production of nuclear weapons, Arakchi said, "According to this fatwa, the production, storage, and use of nuclear weapons are forbidden. You know very well what forbidden means. Of course, we have the capacity to produce nuclear weapons. However, we have never had the will to produce nuclear weapons, and we do not have such an intention at the moment."
