In a period when the war between the US-Israel and Iran is increasing global tensions, a striking statement came from North Korea. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un harshly criticized US President Donald Trump, calling him "mentally ill, a senile American." The statement highlighted the renewed escalation of tensions with the US during a time when Pyongyang has accelerated its recent missile tests and nuclear program.
The war between the US-Israel and Iran continues with all its intensity on its 17th day, while mutual statements are causing the tension to rise significantly.
KIM'S REMARKABLE WORDS ABOUT TRUMP
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made harsh statements about US President Donald Trump. Kim referred to Trump as "not in his right mind," labeling the US leader as "an American senile."
Kim's words came at a time when relations between Washington and Pyongyang have once again become strained. North Korea, which has long been at odds with the US due to its nuclear program, has been in the international spotlight in recent weeks due to missile tests and military exercises it has conducted.
MISSILE TESTS AND MILITARY SHOW OF FORCE
Most recently, Kim Jong Un personally oversaw a large military exercise held on the eastern coast of his country. During the exercise, advanced multiple rocket systems and short-range ballistic missiles were tested, while the South Korean army announced that Pyongyang had launched approximately 10 ballistic missiles.
Experts indicate that such trials are a response to the joint military exercises of the US and South Korea. The Pyongyang administration considers these exercises as "invasion rehearsals."
NUCLEAR PROGRAM AT THE CENTER
In recent years, Kim Jong Un has rapidly expanded his country's nuclear and missile program. According to analysts, the Pyongyang administration views nuclear weapons as the fundamental guarantee of the regime's security and therefore is not receptive to disarmament calls. The North Korean leader also prioritizes the development of new tactical nuclear weapon systems as one of the key military objectives.
TENSION WITH THE US AND POSSIBILITY OF DIPLOMACY
Although Trump and Kim Jong Un have had direct talks several times in the past, a lasting agreement between the two countries has not been achieved. Nevertheless, there are occasional diplomatic signals from both sides. Kim had previously expressed that he could be open to talks with the US if suitable conditions arise. However, recent statements indicate that the verbal tension between Washington and Pyongyang has risen again.
