There was chaos during the oath-taking ceremony of the two newly appointed ministers of Justice and Interior yesterday. The AK Party and CHP factions clashed, and CHP member Mahmut Tanal's nose was bleeding. Tanal, who made a statement for the first time after the incident, said, "It is not difficult to predict what would happen if Osman Gökçek and Mahmut Tanal faced each other alone."
With the appointment decisions published with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a change of duty occurred in the Ministries of Justice and Interior. Akın Gürlek, the Chief Public Prosecutor of Istanbul, was appointed as the Minister of Justice, and Mustafa Çiftçi was appointed as the Minister of Interior.
Before the oath-taking ceremony of the two ministers, the Parliament almost turned into a boxing ring yesterday.
Tensions arose as CHP deputies blocked the podium to prevent Akın Gürlek and Mustafa Çiftçi from taking their oaths.
The argument that broke out between AK Party and CHP deputies quickly turned into a fistfight.
A PUNCH FROM OSMAN GÖKÇEK TO TANAL
During the scuffle, it was seen that CHP Şanlıurfa Deputy Mahmut Tanal was injured and bleeding from his nose as he threw a punch towards the AK Party side and was hit by AK Party deputy Osman Gökçek.
TANAL MADE A STATEMENT: "IF IT WERE ONE ON ONE"
After the events that took place yesterday, Tanal stated in a statement he made today, "I was subjected to a systematic attack during this process. I leave it to the conscience of the public to predict what would happen if Osman Gökçek and Mahmut Tanal were to face each other alone.
There was a planned intervention with a large number of people against us. Various images have emerged as a result of losing my balance due to the influence of those who were holding me at that moment."
