The Manifest group, which wants to perform a concert in Erzurum as part of their tour in Turkey, received a veto from the Metropolitan Municipality. The application for the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Fair Center, the only suitable venue for the group consisting of six young women, was rejected on the grounds that "the outfits are not suitable for the city."

The Manifest group, which has rapidly gained popularity among young people in Turkey recently, was forced to cancel the concert it planned to hold in Erzurum. The reason was the municipality's decision that "the outfits were not suitable for the city."

The group, consisting of six young women, made a swift entry into the music charts with their album Manifestival, released on June 13, and quickly reached millions of listeners on digital platforms. However, the Erzurum leg of Manifest's Turkey tour was unexpectedly canceled.

CONCERT NOT ALLOWED

According to journalist Timur Soykan, the application for the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Fair Center, the only venue where the group could perform in Erzurum, was rejected by the Metropolitan Municipality. The reason for the rejection was stated as the group members' stage outfits being deemed "too revealing" and not suitable for the city.

Following the decision, music lovers in Erzurum experienced great disappointment, while discussions about "censorship of art" flared up on social media.
