Due to Mansur Yavaş's continued use of the ABB-owned residence, it has been learned that Melih Gökçek, who he took to court, had vacated the residence in Dikmen Valley owned by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality some time ago but did not return the keys to the property. The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has applied to the Çankaya District Governorship to obtain the keys to the property.
Former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek, who used the lodge in Dikmen Valley belonging to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, vacated the lodge six years after leaving his position. However, it was learned that Gökçek did not return the keys of the residence to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. It was stated that the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality officially applied to the Çankaya District Governorship to receive the keys to the property.
THE COURT HAD RULED THAT THE PURCHASE TRANSACTION WAS IRREGULAR
While continuing his role as the President of ABB in 2017, Gökçek conducted the sale tender for four lodge villas belonging to the municipality, and the tender was won by his wife Nevin Gökçek and two lawyers. Gökçek continued to reside in the duplex residence, which he was supposed to vacate within two months after leaving office, while the sale transaction was completed during his actual residence in the properties.
MANSUR YAVAŞ HAD FILED A LAWSUIT
ABB President Mansur Yavaş had filed a criminal complaint regarding the sales and had initiated a lawsuit. The court ruled that the purchase transaction was irregular and decided to return the properties to ABB. The decision was also upheld by the Court of Cassation.
The four lodge villas were purchased by the Gökçek family for 7 million 900 thousand TL in 2018. The Court of Cassation had ruled that the tender was unlawful. Despite months passing since the decision was upheld in July, Gökçek had not vacated the house for a long time.
