The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, addressed the allegations about him in a statement made on his social media account.
"A PERCEPTION OPERATION IS BEING CARRIED OUT"
Şimşek stated, "A perception operation is being carried out on social media based on a few photos taken in London and Batman during the period when I was not a minister (July 2018-May 2023) and a 163 square meter property I acquired in London." He added, "In line with the principles of transparency and accountability, it has become necessary to make the following statements to inform the public correctly."

In the continuation of his post, Şimşek wrote, "I have no commercial partnership with the person who is portrayed as the 'king of tenders' on social media. The images in which I appear with the mentioned person were taken in London and Batman during the period when I was not in office. The company that was jointly established with Mr. Abdurrahman Reşitoğlu in August 2021, when I was not a minister, has no other commercial activity apart from the purpose of acquiring a property. The jointly established company for the purpose of acquiring a property has no other assets either. The mentioned property was included in my asset declaration dated June 3, 2023, when I was a minister," he wrote.
"AN ATTEMPT OF CHARACTER ASSASSINATION"
Şimşek, who condemned the news about him, stated, "I condemn the false news that suggests I have been involved in tenders based on just a few photos and a property I acquired. All these baseless allegations are an attempt of character assassination targeting me and the program we are successfully implementing. These efforts are doomed to fail. I reserve all my legal rights to seek compensation for the damage attempted to be inflicted on my reputation through these news-like scenarios."
