Istanbul 40th Heavy Penal Court has decided to lift the judicial control measures applied to 6 individuals, including Gözdem Ongun, the wife of Murat Ongun, the Chairman of the Board of İBB Media AŞ, who are subject to house arrest in the corruption investigation against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office completed the 3,900-page indictment against Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was arrested as part of a corruption investigation and removed from his position as the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), and 406 others, after 237 days, and submitted it to the court on November 11. The indictment was accepted by the Istanbul 40th Heavy Penal Court, and a case was opened.
The relevant court made an interim decision by evaluating the judicial control measure over the file before the first hearing scheduled for March 9.
HOUSE ARREST MEASURE LIFTED, SIGNATURE MEASURE APPLIED
In its interim decision, the court panel lifted the judicial control measure in the form of house arrest for Gözdem Ongun, the wife of İmamoğlu's advisor and Chairman of the Board of IMM Media AŞ, Murat Ongun, as well as for Cem Çelik, Güngör Gürman, Mehmet Şahin, Yılmaz Doğan, and Hüsnü Yüksel Tunar. A judicial control measure requiring them to sign on Mondays was applied for these individuals.
Additionally, the court panel decided to lift the house arrest judicial control measures for the detained defendants Adem Soytekin, Bulut Aydöner, Barış Kılıç, Kadir Öztürk, Kağan Sürmegöz, Mustafa Keleş, Volkan Ateş, and Yağmur Cansu Yeşilyurt due to their "presence in prison."
