A natural gas explosion and subsequent fire on the first floor of a 15-story apartment building in Niğde injured 12 people. Niğde Governor Nedim Akmeşe reported that none of the injured individuals are in serious condition.
A blast that occurred on the first floor of an apartment building in Niğde caused panic, followed by a fire. While 12 people were injured in the incident, the injured were taken to nearby hospitals. The fire that broke out after the explosion was brought under control and extinguished by the intervention of fire crews.
FIRE BROKE OUT AFTER THE EXPLOSION
The incident occurred in the evening hours on the first floor of a 15-story apartment building located in the Selçuk neighborhood of central Niğde. According to the information obtained, a fire broke out after the explosion that occurred in the apartment.
Upon hearing the explosion, local residents reported the incident, and a large number of health, fire, and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene. As a precaution, the residents of the apartment were evacuated under the control of the teams.
FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED IN A SHORT TIME
The fire that broke out after the explosion was brought under control and extinguished by the rapid intervention of fire crews. The 12 people injured during the incident were taken to hospitals after their initial treatment.
GOVERNOR AKMEŞE: WE HAVE 12 INJURED
Niğde Governor Nedim Akmeşe, who came to the scene to conduct investigations, stated that the explosion and fire were caused by natural gas. In his statement, Akmeşe expressed that the teams intervened quickly and said:
"Upon receiving the report of the natural gas explosion, our teams intervened rapidly. Both our fire department, AFAD teams, and 112 teams completely cut off the building's electricity and natural gas lines. Then the building was evacuated. According to the information we received from the Health Directorate, we have 12 injured, but thankfully none of them are in serious condition. They are currently under observation."
Authorities reported that an investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
