As part of the terrorism investigation conducted against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the judicial control conditions for Mahir Polat, the Deputy Secretary General of the IMM, who was under house arrest, have been changed by court order. The Istanbul 5th Criminal Court of Peace lifted the house arrest decision and imposed a travel ban abroad.
The judicial control condition of Mahir Polat, the Deputy Secretary General of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), who is under house arrest as part of the "terror" investigation against the IMM, has been changed. The house arrest decision has been lifted and replaced with a travel ban abroad.
REQUEST FOR REASSESSMENT FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requested a review of the judicial control measures applied within the scope of the ongoing investigation. Following this request, the case was reassessed.
The Istanbul 5th Peace Criminal Court made a significant change regarding Mahir Polat. The decision stated that the evidence in the case had largely been collected and that the duration Polat spent under house arrest was taken into account.
TRAVEL BAN IMPOSED
The court ruled for the lifting of the house arrest measure and the implementation of a travel ban abroad as a form of judicial control in line with the aforementioned reasons.
